Student Care and Assistance is a great first step for students who are experiencing crisis, emergency situations, or difficulty accessing basic needs. Support is available in-person, virtually, or by phone.

Financial Advice and Hardship Funds
For Students
Students can set up individual meetings with financial aid advisors in MyUI or find info about saving and managing money on the Financial Aid website.
The Student Life Emergency Fund supports students who confront unforeseen financial emergencies or catastrophic events that might prevent them from continuing their education.
For Staff and Faculty
UI employees can meet with a financial expert for up to three one-on-one financial coaching sessions at no cost.

Managed by the Employee Assistance Program, the UI Emergency Hardship Fund supports costs of up to $1,000 related to unforeseen emergency events or crises that result in a financial hardship.
Food Pantry
The Food Pantry provides free nutritious food and basic necessities for University of Iowa students, graduate and professional students, postdocs, staff, and faculty. The pantry shares space with the Clothing Closet, which provides access to professional clothing at no cost.
