Campus Updates and Opportunities
Changes to Nite Ride
Nite Ride — the university’s free late-night transportation service operated by Campus Safety — will move to two shuttle buses operating on fixed routes that will include the most frequently requested pick-up and drop-off locations on and near campus. The service will begin operating an hour earlier, running nightly from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
To expand overnight transportation options, a new shuttle was launched January 2026. The shuttle will run daily from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. with service between the Main Library and Aspire at West Campus every 30 minutes.
Community Engaged Campus
The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has recognized the University of Iowa with its Community Engagement Classification, reaffirming Iowa’s commitment to community engagement and its leadership connecting education with public service.
Parental Supports
The Iowa Paid Parental Leave (IPPL) program, effective July 1, 2025, gives employees who are eligible for the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) the opportunity to take time off to care for and bond with a new child without using sick or vacation leave.
