Feeling stressed at the end of the semester? We invite you to take a creative relaxation break at the Stanley Museum of Art with Chill & Create, a workshop led by Dana Keeton, a local artist, art therapist, and mental health counselor.

Students will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of collage materials to put together a collage with colors, textures and materials that feel relaxing and peaceful. The workshop will include strategies for calming and focusing.

Changes to Nite Ride

Nite Ride — the university’s free late-night transportation service operated by Campus Safety — will move to two shuttle buses operating on fixed routes that will include the most frequently requested pick-up and drop-off locations on and near campus. The service will begin operating an hour earlier, running nightly from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Blood Drive Competition

The Abbott & Big Ten We Give Blood Drive Competition pits all Big Ten schools against each other to see which school gets the most blood donations. The winning school will receive a $1 million grant to support student and community health.

Donate at any blood drive or blood center anywhere in the U.S. between Aug. 27 – Dec. 5. After donating, visit BigTen.org/Abbott/Iowa to upload proof of your donation and select University of Iowa to make sure your contribution counts for the Hawkeyes.

Paid Parental Leave

The University of Iowa now provides up to four weeks of paid parental leave to eligible employees.

The Iowa Paid Parental Leave (IPPL) program, effective July 1, 2025, gives employees who are eligible for the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) the opportunity to take time off to care for and bond with a new child without using sick or vacation leave.
