The University of Iowa provides a variety of scholarships to eligible undergraduate students through the Iowa Scholarship Portal. Scholarships are available to both incoming (first-year and transfer) and currently enrolled students. Many scholarships will have specific Grade Point Average (GPA) and/or test score requirements and may contain a requirement for demonstrated financial need. Others are tied to particular programs of study, geographical location, or other academic and special qualifications.

To be considered for scholarships, you must complete the General Application on the portal each year. It becomes available in September and remains open through June. Completing the application will allow you to apply for open scholarship opportunities.

For scholarships that require financial need, you must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file. Additional information on filing a FAFSA is available from the Office of Student Financial Aid’s website.
